History Group Inaugural meeting

At our last Friends of Glenthorne Committee meeting it was decided to call an initial meeting for the “Glenthorne History Group”.

  • When: This Tuesday 20th June, 7:30pm
  • Where: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 20 Ragamuffin Dr, Hallett Cove.

The purpose of the meeting is to decide to form this group, and to elect a committee.

We know the History Group will work on the history of the local area around Glenthorne, which may also include Marino, Hallett Cove Beach, Field River, Happy Valley, Sturt Gorge, and adjoining suburbs that have significant historical and heritage areas.  This will be up to the group to decide.

Proposed Agenda:

  • Welcome
  • Vision
  • Scope of Group & Governance
  • Discussion
  • Elections
  • Next Meeting: Date, Time, Venue.
  • Supper

Any thoughts, or feedback, or other agenda items for this initial meeting, then please reply.

Butterfly Project Planting
The Friends of Glenthorne are populating the park with many more plants of a few species that are hosts to butterflies:
  • Two Sedges (Gahnia sieberia & Cyperus gymnocaulos) for the Flame Sedge Skipper butterfly
  • Tall Scurf Pea (Cullen astralasicum) for the Chequered Swallowtail butterfly

We have these plants, we have prepared the sites, and we now need some folk to come and help us plant them.

There are over 50 small areas (6 metres x 6 metres), in three larger areas in the park, that need 55 of these plants in each of them.

The event is free but places are very limited, so if you want to come and help us, then you need to register very soon.

To find out more details, and to register, go to https://www.friendsofglenthorne.org.au/event/butterfly-project-planting/

A confirmation email will be sent once you register with further details of the event, what to bring, etc.
