Enjoyment Day  - 17th June - This Sunday!

NOTE: New times of access – 10.00am to 4.00pm this Sunday – we hope to see you there.

The Friends will be at Glenthorne this Sunday, and, with a forcast of a very typical winter's day for Sunday. If you have not had the exhilaration of walking through native habitat in the rain, then this Sunday is an opportunity too good to miss.

We meet at the Majors Road gates just before 10.00am but if you are intending to come along a little later, the gates will be unlocked. Please make sure that you close the gates once you have entered.
Follow the road until you reach the large pine tree near the Old Barn and head right through, along the dirt track, where you will see our cars parked.
Otherwise, you are welcome instead to use the bitumen carpark (turn right at the large pine tree in the "middle" of the Glenthorne Track, past the old CSIRO laboratories)
Visitors are welcome and we are happy to show people around our revegetation sites and the heritage structures.
Please message or call Alan on 0411595910 as soon as possible to advise that you are coming along or we may be off down the water course when you arrive.
We usually have tea or coffee and a discussion of recent events from around 1.00 pm but must vacate the property at 4.00pm, under University of Adelaide rules.
If you are coming along, please respect the property and its wildlife and we hope you enjoy your visit.

Glenthorne National Park - What could it be like?

Have you ever visited Braeside Park, in Melbourne?

Visit the Friends of Breaside Website, and see what is happening there.  This could be happening at Glenthorne to further enhance our beautiful city

Now that the new SA Govt. have promised that Glenthorne National Park will be formed, hopefully in their first 100 days of Government, the local member, and the current Minister for the Environment, Mr. David Spieirs, is planning to host a community forum for this new National Park.

We have not yet heard any further details on this community forum, but we will keep you informed, (via this newsletter) on when, where this will be held.

Glenthorne Park - 100 days

Well, it is nearly 100 days since the SA State Election, when the Liberal Government, and our local Member, David Speirs promised that Glenthorne Farm will become part of a new National Park. We are still very, very excited about this, and are waiting on further developments of this.  There are rumours of another community forum for the Park, (which will also include O'Halloran Hill, Marino, Hallett Cove Conservation Parks, the whole Field River Valley, and Happy Valley Reservoir. When we hear of any further developments, we will let you know straight away.

In the mean time, you may like to think about what you can contribute to community meetings that will take place once this new National Park is establised.  Also, you may have not yet been shared the link to David's speech in parliament back in May. Click  here to watch David's speech.

You may also like to re-read the Friends’ "Glenthorne Farm Community Vision 2015" report which can be downloaded here. (PDF format) – this document details the many and varied activities which we hope may one day soon be happening at the Farm.  Maybe you can think of new things too.
