This Saturday, (10/09/2022) is another Friends Bushcare Day.

We will continue our efforts in our old haunting ground, the Native Grass Compound, to slash, hand week, and spread mulch. 

The weather will may not be particularly good, so  please be prepared for a shower or two, and muddy ground.

Please BYO lunch, drinking water, snacks etc. We are still operating under Covid conditions. Outside it is easy to exercise safe distancing, but if you are unwell, please do the right thing and stay at home. We will meet in the Majors Road Ranger Station carpark from 9.45 am, and move off to the NGC at 10am. If you are late, then you will need to ring Alan, if you do not know where the NGC is.

The suggested items to bring along/wear:

• long pants and sleeves,
• hat
• Warm, waterproof jacket
• enclosed shoes or boots (or rubber boots even better)
• snacks / lunch
• drinking water

Please remember that we hold Bushcare Days on the first and Third Sundays, second Saturday, of each month, along with each Wednesday morning. All are welcome.

Revegetation Manager, Sam Chesson, has released an updated "Friends of Glenthorne Park - Ityamaiitpinna Yarta" Site Plan.

This is an exciting document, that identifies 12 areas within Glenthorne that the Friends can work on, and detailed with what is required in these areas.

A request has come through from the Friends of Waite Conservation Reserve.  It is the time of year ideal to burn piles of sawn olive branches to improve access for follow-up olive control.

Are you available this Tuesday 1013 September, 8.45am – 2.00pm, contingent on weather and sufficient helpers.

Burning will occur on the Waite Conservation Park, on the eastern boundary of Stone Reserve.

Conditions are steep and uneven so you must be physically fit.

The work involves some dragging of nearby branches, feeding the fire, and keeping a watch on the burn piles.

Confirmation and instructions will be provided later, and a safety induction conducted prior to the burn.

If you would like to attend, then please reply to this email , and we will forward your request on to Friends of Waite, and they will contact you.

The Friends of Glenthonrne has started planting out a Garden at the Riding for Disabled site, on Majors Rd,  opposite Glenthorne.

As you may know, the Riding for Disabled land National Park land, and is leased to them from the government.

The RDA site will also require lots of future work, so if you are interested in helping us there, and building a good relationship with RDA, then please reply to this email to let us know, and we can provide more details to you.
