Our next Enjoyment Day is this Sunday, 21st February, 2015 from 10.00am until 2.00pm, and all are welcome.
WARNING: The forecast for Sunday is 37°C, and we strongly encourage you to dress appropriately, with hat, long sleeves, sun-screen, etc. Also bring some extra drinking water. If it is hotter, the day may be cancelled. A notice will be on the front gate. If it goes ahead, there is plenty of shade, and we will keep ourselves as cool as we need to.
Join us for a walk along the creek line to check on past revegetation efforts and to also survey the bird life. Bird records collected by the Friends over a number of years, currently number around 90 different species and numbers have been increasing in recent years. It is always interesting to see what water birds are currently utilising the large dam area as the water levels fall over summer. We will be watering the seedlings which were planted in recent months and also reviewing the current weed situation for action in coming months.
We usually have tea or coffee and a discussion of recent events from around 1.00 pm.
We will be on site from 10.00am to 2.00pm and if you arrive after 10.00am please call Alan on 0411 595 910 for entry instructions.
Tomorrow, (Wednesday) is their meeting, on the topic "Thomas O'Halloran's younger brother, William and the family rumour". The speaker is Brian O'Halloran, the great-great-grandson of William Littlejohn O'Halloran. This promises to be a very interesting talk on the early heritage of our area.
This will be held at the "Cooinda Neighbourhood Centre, Sturt Rd, (Behind the Council Chambers) at 7:30pm.
Their meetings are always on the Third Wednesday of each month.
