The 2025 "Friends of Glenthorne" AGM will be held next Tuesday 9th September, at 7:00pm. Please put this date in your diary.
Venue: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 20 Ragamuffin Drv, Hallett Cove (Right behind the Cove Civic Centre)
Notification was officially issued to members on the 2nd of August 2025 in our monthly E-Newsletter.
All are welcome. Voting is restricted to financial members only.
Membership fees can be paid on the night. $10.00 Individual Membership or $20.00 Family Membership. Card or Cash facilities will be available.
After the usual welcome to visitors, apologies, acknowledgement of country and acceptance of the 2023 and 2024 AGM minutes, we look forward to our guest speaker, Professor Mike Gardner.
Professor Mike Gardner has up until recently been Professor of Biodiversity and Ecology at Flinders University and retains links with the South Australian Museum. His research was aimed at investigating the maintenance of genetic diversity in natural populations and he is well known for his work on Australian lizards, in particular the Pygmy Bluetongue Lizard (Tiliqua adelaidensis). Mike and his team have worked on translocating this species to mitigate the effects of climate change which threatens to wipe out existing populations in the Burra region as the climate warms.
We look forward to Professor Gardner’s talk and its relevance to the work currently being undertaken to restore habitat at the Glenthorne National Park – Ityamaiitpinna Yarta.
After the committee elections, the AGM will conclude with a light Supper. |

The Rangers were very pleased to report that finally, the BBQs have been repaired, and are working again.
To Celebrate this, the Friends of Glenthorne are launching "The Third Sunday" BushCare & BBQ (TTSBB). On the Third Sunday in each month, we will start BushCare as normal, at 10am, and then break for lunch to host a BBQ, and possibly a return to enjoying that delicious "Apple and Walnut" offering that some of us were quite partial to.
Also, on the Third Sunday of each month, recent doctorate graduate of Adelaide Uni, will continue his BushCare on his Glenthorne research area, the Community Grassland. Max will start at 9am. You might like to come early to help him.
There is much to learn about Grasslands, and Max is willing to share his knowledge.
See his Glenthorne Grassland Website at: https://www.glenthornegrassland.com. |
