Wallaby Grass
Understorey Planting Day

Dear  ,

This Sunday was going to be a Planting Day at Glenthorne, but Sunday’s forecast is not looking good.

Ranger Bec has recommended that we postpone the planting day planned in the hub for this Sunday and aim for Sat 11th June instead.

Further events are planned for 10am to 1.00pm.

  • Sun 19th June – Community Planting event
  • Sun 26th June – Community Planting event
  • Sun 24th July – Glenthorne Action Team planting event
  • Sun 31st July – Community Planting event
  • Sun 7th Aug - Community Planting event

These too will be subject to weather conditions and may therefore change.

We will endeavour to keep the website current.

Suggestions of what else to bring:

  • An umbrella, just in case the BOM Forecast is not 100% accurate
  • Boots that will cope with mud,
  • Sunscreen and a Hat (you can still get sun-burn at this time of the year, UV is highest between 11am - 2pm)
  • Lunch and Drinking water, snacks
  • Long pants and sleeves,
  • Chair

We are still being cautious of Covid, so please exercise safe distancing as required, and if you are unwell, please do the right thing and stay at home. Masks are not mandatory.

We will meet at the Majors Road temporary carpark at 9.30am so that the necessary signing in can take place and some brief safety instructions / induction can be given. Just look for the volunteers in Hi-Vis vests or call Alan on 0411595910 if you are late.

All the best and thanks to all our many valued members and supporters.

President

This is being held in partnership with Greening Australia, Nature’s Own, the Kaurna Nation, and the City of Marion.

Registrations are coordinated by Greening Australia through Field River Community Planting Day Tickets, Sun 12/06/2022 at 10:00 am | Eventbrite

Further information can be found at the Greening Australia events page Field River Community Planting Day - Greening Australia - Greening Australia

We will be planting local native species along the river to supplement the Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos diet and help create a more resilient, biodiverse habitat.

This partnership is supporting the Field River project to deliver habitat and connectivity for native flora and fauna, improve water quality outcomes along the catchment, and reconnect people with nature.

Marion Council Verge Incentive Fund

If you are a resident in the City of Marion council area, then you may be interested to know that the City of Marion recognises there are many benefits to residents developing and maintaining the verge adjoining their property. Key benefits include greening of our local streets, improving local biodiversity and establishing greener corridors throughout our city.

The Verge Incentive Fund is a one-year trial, providing a rebate to encourage more residents to beautify the verge area, in line with the Verge Development Guidelines.

A total of 50 per cent of the costs of developing the verge, capped at a rebate of $500 per property can be applied for.

There are a limited number of rebates available.
