July Enjoyment Day

This Sunday 20th July, was to be our next Enjoyment Day. But, due to recent heavy rains, the day has been postponed, and possibly cancelled.  If there will be a scheduled day between now and the scheduled August day, we will send out a further notice.

We were going to be doing the following:

• Setting up of our new Native Grass Compound is progressing well.  We would have be working on that.
• Also the winter weeds are doing really well, so we would have got a chance to tackle some of them.

Highlights from last Enjoyment Day!

The Native Grass Compound had its gate installed, and further work on the posts in preparation for the fencing wire.

Opportunity to learn Heritage Restoration

The Friends of Glenthonrne have the opportunity to help at a restoration site in Hahndorf, owned by Ms. Annie Luhr-Fox. Though not quite the same as the buildings at Glenthorne, this site is heritage listed. It is a stone cottage built by the random rubble' method on dirt, no foundation, obviously build by folk with not much money. The site had a conservation study done  it before repairs were started. We will be helping the repairer Mr. Ian Thompson.   The visits to Handorf will be on a Saturday afternoons, on dates yet to be determined. If you are interested to know more, or be involved, then please let us know.
