Restoring Native Habitat and Heritage in Adelaide's South

Dear {name} {surname},

You may be interested in some up-coming events. Keep an eye out on our website "Events" page.

Working Bee

This coming Sunday is our next Working Bee. Please meet us at the Ranger's Station Carpark at 10 am.

Jobs that we will plan to tackle:

  • Working mainly on removing Tree Guards and Slashing weeds up around Grey Box Gully.
  • Continue Mulchiing the most recently planted native plants.
  • Spray Thistles and the Phalaris Grass as follow up for the slashers.

See our Website HomePage for more information very relevant to attending our "Working Bees".

If you have attended one of our events, we would love to receive some feedback. Please let us know your thoughts by replying to this email. This will help us get better at doing those things we're not good at yet.

Of course, due to Covid-19, we will continue to practice safe-distancing, and if you are feeling un-well, please do not attend, (you probably won't feel like attending anyway).

Annual General Meeting

If you haven't yet booked in to our AGM, and intend to come then for Covid-19 and catering purposes, you must register.

Our AGM  will be held next Wednesday, 18th November, at 7pm.

Our guest speaker will be Sophie Thomson, who you may know, from "Gardening Australia".

Register through our "Events" page, or Click this "AGM" event link to fill out and submit the Registration Details.

There will be some constitution changes, so please download the Agenda from our website at 2020 AGM Agenda.

Upper-Field River Group

Reminder about tomorrows activity 9am – 12 noon. We will be making the most of this lovely rain by some easy hand pulling of the weeds – the weeds that are trying to share the space with the plants you put in a couple of months ago. Only space in those guards for the native plants!

Randal will also take you on a hunt for a rather elusive native plant that was seen on site some time ago – he will give you more details tomorrow!

Meet at the very Eastern end of WoodEnd Rd, off Lemon Rd, Woodend.

If you want to know more information, then on your profile page, check the "Upper Field River" group checkbox.  The Upper-Field River goup are active on the walkiing trail near the Barton Drive Reserve, Woodend.

Wagon Wheels - Do you have, or know someone who has, some old Pram or Golf Buggy type Wheels (9"-12" or 200mm - 300mm) or similar, that you could donate? The Friends of Glenthorne need to transport equipment from our cars/trailers to our work-sites, and we will make mini-waggons.  Large wheels are necessary for the rough terrain.

If you can help with this, then please reply to this email, and we can get in contact with you to collect.

Glenthorne National Park Update

Glenthorne National Park - Ityamaiitpinna Yarta, is being enjoyed by many people, coming to walk the 4km Loop Trail.

The planting days were such a success, with many people involved, and many more plants in the ground.  Have you been back to Glenthorne, to see how your plant is going?

The Department are interested in how much water flows into and through Glenthorne.  They have installed a Water Flow Meter, and the Flows are available On-Line. See the Glenthorne Water Flow Website.

Glenthorne History Book

Glenthorne, a Defining History & Indefinite Politics

Did you know that some very early buildings, in SA's history, exist at Glenthorne. There are plans afoot to have these buildings restored to their former glory (or humble use!) These plans are part of our vision for Glenthorne,

You can learn about the history of these buildings (and others that no longer exist) in our book, “Glenthorne, a Defining History & Indefinite Politics” written by Dr. Pam Smith, Dr. Keryn Walsh, and Mr. Alan Burns. More information on getting your own copy on the Friends of Glenthorne web site here. Or you may like to telephone Pam on 0428 315 266 on how to get one.

At just $20 (plus $10 postage and handling), it makes a great gift and is a great read. It is the most detailed written history of the Glenthorne property and we are very proud of it. If you come to our Enjoyment Day to pay for and pick up your copy, you can save the $10 postage.

Payment can be by way of cheque (posted in the mail) or electronic or cash deposit into the Friends bank account. Note that order forms must also be forwarded with payment to ensure your copy is accurately posted to you.
